Halloween is just around the corner, and haunted houses are starting to open up everywhere. With four of the top-rated haunted houses in America, Northeast Ohio has an abundance of haunted houses to meet the fright-night needs of children and adults.

The Hudson Haunted House, the longest running in Ohio, is the closest attraction to Kent. In 2018, it was rated the top overall Halloween attraction. Open Fridays and Saturdays from 7:30pm – 11:00pm and costing only $8 for adults, the Hudson Haunted House should definitely be on your “must-do” list this fall.

“It’s really fun and the people who work there put so much into it, even though they don’t get paid,” junior Kaitlyn Ingersoll said.

The Haunted Schoolhouse and Haunted Laboratory are also two popular choices located in Akron. The Haunted Schoolhouse and Haunted Laboratory are one of the four top-rated haunted houses in America and are open Fridays and Saturdays from 7:00pm – 12:00pm and Sundays from 7:00pm – 10:00pm. $28 Fridays/Saturdays and $25 Sundays for both the haunted houses, $20 for one, visit the Haunted Schoolhouse and Haunted Laboratory this fall.

“I was shaking in my boots,” said junior Abbey Jones. “I almost wanted to get out of line and go home.”

Another haunted house worth mentioning is the Factory of Terror in Canton. Although it is quite the drive, it is very much worth it. The Factory of Terror is a three times world record winning haunted house and is known to be the largest haunted house in the world at more than a mile long. The Factory of Terror costs $28 and is open Fridays and Saturdays from 7:00pm – 12:00pm and on October 17th and 24th from 6:00pm – 9:00pm.

With so many great attractions to choose from, you are certain to have a frightful and fun October, regardless of the haunted house you choose to visit. In fact, why not start this weekend and try to visit all three of the award winning haunted houses.
